Types of Explosion Prevention Systems

Explosion prevention systems (EPS) are designed to protect people, property, and the environment from potential explosions.

There are three types of EPS: mechanical, electronic, and audible/vibratory. Mechanical EPS use physical barriers and devices to prevent or minimize the chances of an explosion.

Electronic EPS rely on sensors to detect potential explosives and activate protective measures before an explosion occurs. Audible/vibratory EPS emit a warning sound or vibration to notify people of an impending explosion. If you are unsure whether you need an EPS system, contact your facility’s safety professional to get more information.

The best way to determine if you need an EPS is to review your facility’s specific risks. However, some common risks include: explosive materials being stored or used improperly; accidental detonation of explosives; unauthorized access to explosives; and fires caused by explosives.

What other issues should I consider when choosing an EPS?

EPS are an excellent choice if you have an older building or one with uneven floors or areas where people won't be in contact directly with the flooring. You'll find they're easy to install, offer great traction and they maintain their durability over time.

On top of that, they provide great value because you don't have to spend as much money on them compared to other options available. They're also energy efficient and very easy to clean , making them a great option for businesses that have to comply with energy-efficient standards. They're also a good choice if you live in an area with a lot of dust, as they're easy to maintain and disinfect.
